Longfellow

You know a song is going to be a hit, when a tingle runs up your spine within the first fifty-two seconds of hearing it. The fact is, the latest single from Longfellow, “Kiss-Hug-Make Up” grabs your attention with it’s opening piano chord and the melancholy voice of Owen Lloyd singing, “We were worn, bleary eyed as we fell through the crossfire of the viciousness of life and I tried to call, but I’m breathless and tired“.

From that moment on, you’re hooked by swirling piano, pulsating percussion, big stadium ready choruses and the kind of emotional dedication to lyrics, that make it worthy to play as the credits ascend the screen of your favorite love story. It’s a recipe for success for the five piece band from South London and a song you won’t soon forget.

Longfellow’s previous single “Siamese Lover”, about the dangers of living in your relationship, seemed to be the foot in the door for radio play and rightly so. Twinkling guitar builds to the boys harmonizing out its catchy indie-pop chorus. But where this predecessor earns play on the introducing stage, “Kiss-Hug-Make Up” is big and grown up enough to strike the ceiling at Royal Albert Hall and beyond.

We’re adding it to our 2014 favorites list and Longfellow to Ones To Watch. The band introduced the official video for us this month when their track took our Song of The Weekend spot on May16th. Check this band out!
