DM- Good morning Mr. Whittaker, first of all we want to thank you for giving us the time for interviewing you.
RW- You’re welcome, I’m always glad to talk with anyone interested in what I love to do, it’s a pleasure.
DM- Well, let’s get stared. Our first question is, where were you born and what environment surrounded your early years?
RW- I was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1920. I was interested since I was a child in nature history . I graduated from the University of Topeka after performing military service several years of my youth.
DM- What do you think it’s your main contribution as scientific?
RW- Mmm… I think that maybe it could be my proposal of taxonomic classification of living things into the five kingdoms.
DM- Wow! I guess that was a huge discovery for the entire world. Can you tell us what those five kingdoms are?
W- Absolutely, they are the Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista and Monera kingdom.
DM- It’s very interesting how the living things that are around us can be grouped into kingdoms, but how does these classifications contribute to life?
RW- Well, I think that the classifications contribute to the knowledge of the diversity of the organization and the relationships among living things based on their evolutionary history.
