My Journey with 2015-17 PGDM Batch
Prof. REMA VISVANATHAN,
Faculty – Marketing,
ISME
It was the orientation week in July, 2015. I, along
with my colleagues, conducted the ice breaker
sessions for them on one day. In that process,
we not only broke the ice, but also caught (or
got) the flavour of the group that were (or was)
going to be part of ISME family for the next two
years. Then the Fresher’s Day happened. The one
important characteristic that we felt this batch
seemed to exhibit on all these occasions was
unity while responding and participating in the
activities that were conducted by their seniors.
The 2nd interaction happened during the club
recruitment and selection process wherein we
discovered that quiet, mature and responsible
behaviour seemed to be a second nature of this
batch. This was frequently visible in all the club
activities that were enthusiastically coordinated
and presented by them.
My personal contact was at a minimum level in
the first year except with the club members as
my teaching them was limited to only Business
Communication in the first term.

But second year changed all that
2015 - 17
especially with the students of
marketing specialisation. I found
that there seemed to be a freshness
in they approach to my sessions and slowly a
friendly but respectful bond developed between
us. I enjoyed the interactive classroom sessions
and also the time I spent outside discussing
and preparing them for taking the first big step
towards corporate life. The learning experience
was mutual and admiration for the maturity of
this batch only increased!
The last few months has been a challenging
journey for all of you and also emotionally
draining for us. But what mattered was the
fortitude with which all of you took it in your
stride and moved ahead! It is this unique quality
that is going to help you traverse the journey of
both professional and personal life successfully!
This may be the end of your academic journey
with us but a start of a more challenging
professional journey in your life! My only advice
to you is work to the best of your ability and
circumstances without compromising the
principles of hard work, conviction and integrity.
Enjoy the small pleasures of life with family and
friends! Our support and prayers will always be
with you! Wishing you luck in all life’s endeavours
and Goodbye till we meet again!
