National Association of Minority Companies, Inc. (NAMCO), National Diversity Coalition By Senior Writer Kathleen Krueger Corporate America has, for decades, expressed its desire to work with small diverse businesses in an increased measure. Small diverse businesses have, on the other hand, complained they have been unable to increase their contracting ratio with the corporate giants. Obviously, there is a disconnect between the two. The National Diversity Coalition has been established to create a bridge between corporate America and those small diverse firms, assisting both sides in achieving their goals. “The National Diversity Coalition is here to support corporate America in its efforts to increase the presence of small minority-owned businesses in their list of providers of goods and services.” The Coalition intends to align with corporations and gain a more in-depth understanding of the efforts that are currently in place, so it can partner with them in achieving their goals in the area of diversity and inclusion. “We’re at ground level.” “The businesses they would need to achieve diversity are our (NAMCO) constituents. We not only provide them access to that group of businesses, but also help them prepare that constituency to better provide those goods and services.” Ideas Cause Change. As a wise man or woman once said, “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come.” Almost all important change starts with an idea. And the idea inevitably originates with people who spend a great deal of their lives thinking. No single person or organization is more powerful than a collective effort. The National Diversity Coalition will conduct research on specific problems, and will work to encourage the discovery of solutions to those problems, while facilitating interaction among leaders in pursuit of these goals on a national level. 5 DyNAMC • ISSUE 5 DyNAMC • ISSUE 3 You can expect to hear more about the National Diversity Coalition as it develops as an important leadership element of the National Association of Minority Companies Inc. 5
