our economy , and hopefully we can convince the governor and legislature to give us the personnel , power and recourses to go after that .”
Chairman Horton said there are also things the average citizen can do to help equal that playing field as well , including supporting small businesses and steering clear of counterfeit or bootleg goods .
“ There ’ s a high cost to buying these counterfeit products . We need to do what we can to not contribute to criminals who are operating in the black market ,” Chairman Horton said . “ When you give them that dollar , that dollar is used in drug trafficking , human trafficking and a lot of other illegal activity that you ultimately pay for .”
Chairman Horton looks to uniting over our commonalities as a solution to harmony and equality in today ’ s society .
“ My mother once told me that we have more in common than the differences God has blessed us with . Meaning , our diversity is our greatest asset . But the challenge we face is the lack unity over our commonalities ,” Chairman Horton told DyNAMC .
“ When minorities focus on their commonalities , our education system works better , we come up with civil rights initiatives , we come up with voter rights , we come up with peace instead of war – all of humanities greatest accomplishments have been when minorities focus on their communalities .
“ Even though discrimination and hate comes from outside , what empowers us to overcome discrimination and hate is unifying over the commonalities ,” Chairman Horton said . “ That commonality will allow us to overcome greed , fear and hate .”
