President’s Perspective
Pledge of Alliance
By Aldrica Lattimore
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under
God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
At a time when things across this country seem vulnerable employment, health care, social security, retirement, national
defense, the environment, and even our relationships - it is
easy to lose focus on the common good and the need to care
for our fellow man as we care for ourselves. The principle of
the common good is one in which we look out for each other
and have concern for one another that is reflected in our organizations, businesses, communities, and government.
A principle of the common good gives towards the well-being, health and welfare,
and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their race, gender, economic class or
religion. We all function best when decisions are made when the focus is on what
benefits everyone, and not just a selected few.
“It is difficult for the common good to prevail against the intense concentration of those who have a
special interest, especially if the decisions are made behind locked doors.”
- Jimmy Carter
The National Association of Minority Companies, Inc. recognizes the importance
of equity and diversity in business and the benefits that a diverse business force
contributes to the achievement of our mission.
We strive for the concern of the common good to be genuinely entrenched in the
values of our nation. The Preamble to the United States Constitution is a brief
introductory statement of the Constitution’s fundamental purposes and guiding
principles. “We The People” which are the first three words, remind us that this
country is first and foremost a community of human relationships. We hope that
the bond of human relationships, unlike many nations, comes from our shared
belief in the freedom and dignity of all people.
Strategic alliance is an agreement or understanding between two or more organizations to cooperate in a specific business activity, so that each benefits from the
strengths of the other, and gains competitive advantage.
