CONTRIBUTORS

Duncan Magazine ’ s goal is to create a publication local to Stephens County that ’ s fun to read and view and created entirely by the hands of people you know . Here are the creators who use their time and talent to tell your stories .
CHARLENE BELEW
Charlene , also known in the community as Charlie , is the Managing Editor for The Duncan Banner and Duncan Magazine . Charlie has served two tenures with The Banner . Her first began in 2014 with an internship through Oklahoma Press Association and culminated in 2017 as News Editor . Her second began in 2018 when she returned as a staff writer and she resumed her editorship in 2020 . Although she has spent much of her life growing up in Lawton , Charlie has always felt a special call to the Duncan and Stephens County community . She adopted a dog from Stephens County Humane Society ’ s Take Out Tuesday program with The Banner in 2019 and also participates as a member of the Duncan Rotary Club .
JACIE BENNETT
Jacie is The Duncan Banner ’ s intern for the summer 2022 . She was born in Duncan and has familial ties to the Stephens County area , though she grew up in metro Oklahoma . Jacie is approaching her sophomore year at The University of Oklahoma , where she studies Film and Creative Media Production . She has always had a passion for writing and storytelling , and plans to explore careers in both visual media and journalism . Though she is just beginning her journey in the journalism industry , she has learned many valuable lessons from the community and her coworkers at The Banner . Interacting with locals and learning their stories has given her a whole new perspective on life and her future career field , and she hopes to continue to touch the lives of others just as the Stephens County community has touched hers .
CRYSTAL CHILDERS TAMARA GREGOR
Crystal joined The Born and raised in Banner staff in 2013 California , Tamara as an advertising joined the staff at The executive . She Duncan Banner in was promoted to March 2020 . Advertising Manager Tamara previously in 2017 before gathered her becoming General experience interning Manager in 2020 . at the South Gibson Born and raised Star Times in Fort in Duncan , Crystal Branch , Indiana , as graduated from well as working as the Duncan High School editor for her college in 2001 and is active newspaper , The in several community Collegian in Oakland groups , including the City , Indiana . Her Lions Club and the experiences continued Meridian Volunteer while writing Fire Department . and publishing a Crystal , along with magazine , Evoke , husband Mike , live with a group of in Meridian with friends in Turlock , their three teenage California . children , Alyssa , With family locally as Jacob and Jordan . well in the surrounding Crystal enjoys areas of Oklahoma , spending time with Tamara moved to family and friends , Stephens County from her parents and her Stanislaus County , many dogs . jumping right into community events as a reporter . She loves to connect and engage with the community members to tell their heartfelt story each day .
JASON HODGES
A Comanche resident since the age of 10 , Jason graduated from Comanche High School in 1991 . His wife , Jennifer , followed a year behind , and the family has strong roots in the area . They have raised three daughters here , each of whom graduated from Comanche . They also have grandchildren attending school there . Jason began his career with The Banner in 2016 as a freelance photographer . Later , he accepted a full-time position in the advertising department , but he still enjoys taking photos occasionally . Jason loves his connection to the community he has now working at The Banner .
ANDY MORPHEW
Andy , the Sports Editor for The Duncan Banner , began his tenure as a Banner staff member in January 2016 . This is his second time with The Duncan Banner . His first came as an intern in the summer 2011 . Andy has lived in Stephens County since September of 2010 . A graduate of The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma , Andy has covered over 1,000 games in the college or high school ranks over his time at the paper . An award winning Sports Editor , Andy has enjoyed many successes of area teams over the years and has enjoyed telling the stories of Stephens County athletes .
