COMMUNITY GARDEN USES HYDROPONICS

Looking for a little peace in a noisy space ? Whether you were born to garden or you ’ re a gardener in training , try planting the seed and a little nurturing , then take a pause and watch your little garden grow .

For anyone who has ever thought about or wanted to grow their own food , the process of hydroponics maximizes space and has been a new tool for gardeners to utilize .
Think Ability ’ s Community Garden in Duncan began installing hydroponics around May 2021 .
Sheila DeCarlo , Think Ability Garden Manager , said it ’ s been almost a year and they have already seen so much growth from their first crop .
According to DeCarlo , they constructed their first hydroponic last year from the profits they made from their Charity Golf Tournament last year .
DeCarlo said when they first started with hydroponics , it was recommend to begin with strawberries , because they are one of the easiest to grow .
With a way to work smarter , conserve more and produce large volumes , the garden implemented their newest system .
“ It all just runs off water that runs and drips through towers that are vertical ,” she said . “ They have little pods that are in there and the strawberries go in the little pods and it drips
