She said the gift certificate can be used toward a spa service , a salon service , massage therapy , permanent makeup , lash extensions , esthetician service , acupuncture / acupressure , chiropractic service , any non-medical well being service or credit applied toward a hair piece or wig . “ Our message is ‘ selfcare is health care and selfcare is anything that feels nourishing ,’” she said . “ We recognize the struggle that women have when facing a cancer diagnosis that goes beyond doctor ’ s visits , surgeries , procedures and treatments .”
Other self care items in the kit include a first aid kit , hand lotion and chapstick .
“ They all have ‘ Love You Well ’ — just a reminder that self care is so important to health care ,” she said . “ We say : Self care is anything that feels nourishing .”
Fiorillo said more often than not , there are several instances during these times when self-care can be pushed aside .
“ We hope the Love You Well program encourages women to make themselves and their health a priority in their daily lives ,” she said .
Fiorillo said their team has worked continuously to put on fundraising events throughout the year .
The first fundraiser for the program began one year ago on Feb . 24 , 2022 , with a “ Blingo ” night .
Another “ Blingo ” night kicked off March 25 , 2023 , which is a night of bingo and bling at the Duncan Golf & Tennis Club . There will also be two golf tournaments — the Red River Challenge with the Oklahoma and Texas Ladies Golf Tournament at WinStar World Casino & Resort and a Dunk ’ n Divot Ladies Invitational Golf Tournament at the Duncan Golf & Tennis Club .
New this year is the Pretty In Pink Breast Cancer Awareness event , a COED Golf Tournament at the Duncan Golf & Tennis Club .
“ All these ladies either help with their time , their money , their resources and this has been a group effort to get us here today ,” she said .
Fiorillo said their next goal is to build their website for information and resources where people “ can go for information about different ways to manage stress and to take care of themselves , not just for women that are undergoing cancer treatment , but all people .”
“ We all know what stress can do to health ,” she said .
According to Fiorillo , the team ’ s main goal is to bring information to people about ways they can manage their stress .
Hooton said the mental aspect of cancer plays a large part .
“ Attitude makes a whole lot of difference ,” he said .
