high school level entering year number five for Girls Wrestling , the sport keeps evolving and West believes to see the growth is exciting .
“ You ’ ve got to have people wrestling and it is good to build it and see the program grow . I ’ ve been to some tournaments where I was the only girl or there is maybe 20 girls and that is not a lot of people ,” West said . “ Then you look to now like at Regionals and State , there is almost 300 girls at that entire tournament , so it is important for it to grow . We have girls coming in to do it now , knowing they will be wrestling girls and not having the possibility of wrestling a guy and getting hurt — that is huge .”
Rowell said he believes this will be another
opportunity that presents itself and believes this can be for any girl to gain confidence in their self .
“ Wrestlers are very unique and individual type of people and there are some girls walking around that fit that mold ,” Rowell said . “ We are just trying to find those girls and let them know they have a place in here . That is why I want it to keep going .”
