Arboretum & Heritage Park features a walking path with views of trees and flowers . Whisenant Park and Olen Sledge Memorial Park also have walking paths .
Most recently added is the Jack “ J . W .” Wininger Dog Park , located next to Playday Park at 15th and Cypress . The park features a large dog play area as well as a small dog play area and numerous amenities , including scoop stations as well as human friendly and pet friendly water stations .

LAKES
The four Duncan area lakes , Duncan Lake ( 10 miles east of Duncan ), Clear Creek Lake ( 13 miles northeast of Duncan ), Fuqua Lake ( 21 miles northeast of Duncan ) and Lake Humphreys ( 9 miles northeast of Duncan ) are owned and operated by the City of Duncan . Fuqua is the largest of the four at 1,500 acres . These lakes are popular fishing spots where crappie , catfish , largemouth bass and walleye are found . All four lakes offer boat ramps , dump stations and docks . Duncan Lake also features horse riding trails , sports ranges and a disc golf course and Humphreys allows camping .
The 10,000-acre Waurika Lake , another local fishing destination , is about a 40-minute drive southwest of Duncan . Waurika Lake also supplies water to Comanche , Duncan , Lawton , Temple and Waurika .
The much smaller Comanche Lake sits four miles east of the Highway 53 and Highway 81 intersection . The 160-acre lake is near a nine-hole golf course and offers boat ramps , fishing docks and pavilions .
FAIRGROUNDS The Stephens County Fairgrounds and Expo Center books
almost every single weekend throughout the calendar year and contributes to keeping Duncan and Stephens County thriving through varied events and culture . The fairgrounds hosts several different events and classes , including art exhibits , craft shows , the free fair and rodeos .
When at the fairgrounds located on south Highway 81 in Duncan , you may happen upon educational events or you may find yourself getting a bit closer to the rodeo culture and farm animals . For more information on the Fairgrounds , call 580-255-3231 .
KIDDIELAND AT FUQUA PARK
Celebrating their 100th birthday in 2021 , the Kiwanis Club in Duncan , which runs Kiddieland at Fuqua Park , unveiled its new train in 2021 . This was the first year for a new ride to debut since 1967 .
According to Banner history , May 25 , 1921 , was the birth of the organization with the allegiance of 50 charter members and R . H Brown as president ; 100 years later , the impact that day had is evident in the various events and attractions Kiwanis now has authority over .
According to a timeline , in 1955 , Kiddieland installed the carousel , marking the first installment of many over the next few years .
Gaining traction , in 1959 , the airplane ride was added as Kiddieland ’ s second ride . Four years later , Kiddieland implemented a streamline train and marked the introduction of the iconic train in 1964 . Then , four years later , Kiddieland attained its fourth ride with the Tilt-A-Whirl . When the Kiwanis first started Kiddieland , the first rides were 10 cents , and they ’ ve only gone up to 50 cents since .
