Derwent Valley Wind Band
The Derwent Valley Wind Band is a Duffield based community wind band
formed in 1988. We meet on Monday evenings in term time at Ecclesbourne
School under the musical direction of David Curtiss with upwards of 50
people most weeks attending rehearsals.
In addition to the main band we also have a training band for all ages to give
opportunities for players to get used
to playing as an ensemble prior to
joining the main band. The band plays
a selection of popular classics, show
and film music and some wind band
arrangements of pop music.
The band plays a number of concerts
around the county during the course
of the year and is always pleased to
support the Duffield Carnival and other
village events.
The band is a registered charity and
more details of concerts and how to
contact the band are available from
www.dvwb.org.uk.
PUNCH AND JUDY
Roll Up! Roll Up! Come and see the Punch and Judy
Show live at Duffield Carnival.
What Carnival or Summer event would be complete without the
knockabout slapstick antics of Mr Punch?
All your favourite characters are here, the Crocodile, the
Policeman and the Sausages... plus a few topical new faces too!
In 2012 Mr Punch celebrated his 350th continuous year in
Britain, so come and be part of one of the UK’s longest
running traditions.
Professor Richard Coombs presents the shows throughout
the day. All ages welcomed - and encouraged - Punch and Judy
is great entertainment that all generations of the family can
enjoy together.
So whether you are young, or young at heart,
"Roll Up ! Roll Up!”
