1. Research
Great strategy begins with great research. After the organization identifies the core values associated with a brand, they can now focus on how to effective proposition the development. Extensive brand research is needed to understand the consumer’s mindset and understanding of the brand. At the very least, this includes the brand's strengths and weaknesses, the target market, and the competition in the market. Research can be an observation of the brand’s industry, historical information, and potential growth and direction.
2. Understanding the Target Audience
The main objectives of understanding your target audience include identifying who your target market is and what their needs are. This includes both demographic and psychographic information regarding your consumers. Market research goes a long way. Understanding your target audience will help in convey the messaging in an engaging and relevant matter throughout your marketing campaign.
3. Develop a Brand Statement
The brand statement is first and foremost a promise to your consumers. It states that the implied features of the products as it relates to the perceived benefits from the consumer's standpoint. The brand proposition must be presented in a manner that is easy to understand, engaging, and presented in the correct manner. Make sure the brand statement refers back to your organization’s objectives and goals.
4. Deliver the Unexpected
Never let your brand image be one that is already expected. This way it allows you to stand out and differentiate yourself from your competition. Deliver the message to your target audience with the idea to build hype about your product. Your message should be unique, relevant, engaging and consistent. Create a brand proposition and message that is different. The manner in which you deliver a message can say a lot about your brand.
5. Winning Their Hearts and Minds
An essential characteristic of a brand is creating a sense of attachment with the target audience. This can come in the form of emotional or physical emotion. It creates a response from the target audience in relation to product or service. The brand proposition should help create a mutually beneficial relationship that creates a level of trust, understanding, and support. Convey value to your consumers while building a relationship.
6. The Brand’s Creed
The brand’s creed begins with identifying the core values of the business. Similar to the brand statement, an organization deems which values are most important and incorporate it into their brand. Core values of the organization may include but not limited to: integrity, honesty, communication, client satisfaction, etc. These values are evident in the way the company operates.
