The Du Toit Tankwa Trek is based at the beautiful Kaleo Manor in the Kouebokkeveld and the route features three loops from this central point. The first is into the Witzenberg Valley, the second into the Ceres Valley and the third explores the Kouebokkeveld itself. All the routes are designed by local farmers, all of whom are avid mountain bikers. It’s a race known first and foremost, for its route. The Du Toit Tankwa Trek is tough but rewarding.
February is notoriously hot in the Bokkeveld, but not even the fierce African sun can compare to the warmth of the hospitality offered by Kaleo. The campsite is situated under the cooling branches of a grove of oak trees, there are swimming pools to cool off in after the ride, while you sip on a refreshing Wilde Fruit Juice or a Cape Brewing Company beer. Or enjoy a vigorous sports massage to revive your aching body while you await the nourishing post cycle country cuisine.
Title sponsors, the Du Toit Group, have been farming in the Ceres region for over 110 years. Their export quality fruit is highly sort after and their farms are often used to pilot new cultivars in South Africa. They’re as passionate about the area as they are about farming and what to ensure you come back to visit the Bokkeveld again and again. And after the Tankwa, they’re sure you will…
