You would have to live under a rock to not know
that Whole Foods has arrived in DTLA, but have you
checked out the Eight Bar inside Whole Foods?
Just like the grocery store that houses it, this joint is
jumping. Sometimes with FIDM students having a preclass coffee, later in the day a combo of office workers, apartment dwellers and many shoppers who either
come early or stay late after their shop crowd the tables.
Conceived essentially as a fast casual concept, orders
are placed at the bar and then brought out of your table. However, with 36 beers on tap and a spectrum of
cocktails also available, this is a step up. The menu is
lighter fare—think nachos to sushi plates. Depending
on ingredients, prices range from $4-$18. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating offers a nice range of options. The kicker is this Eight Bar is open seven days a
week from 7:00a.m. to 10:00 p.m. That is an important
fact as many restaurants are dark between meals and
most stores keep, well, store hours. The Eight Bar is
one place you can count on to be open most of the
day, any day.
