Yes you know it’s open, but have you gone yet? There is simply nothing else like it. Whether running in for some baked goods in the morning, doing a full-tilt cafeteria lunch with
friends or hiding out from the rush hour after work, every trip to Clifton’s is an adventure.
Take some time and explore. There are all kinds of crazy little vignettes, nooks and crannies
and odd little displays, to say nothing of the 4-story faux redwood planted in the middle
of the place. In an age of slick minimalistic spaces, there is something wildly charming in
unapologetic kitsch. Old timers tell me they got it right, visitors to DTLA cannot hide their
amazement. P.S. the food is really good, and the staff could not be more welcoming.
Doors open at 11 a.m. the cafeteria serves till 9 p.m., the Monarch, and Gothic Bar are open
until 2 a.m.
