The month of November is for the majority of Americans the beginning of the Holidays. Some travel to
see their families, and some will celebrate with friends
and their loved ones. For me, it means a lot as it is the
month when I became an American Citizen. I will always
be thankful for this beautiful country and for my friends
here that have always supported me and accepted me
as one of their own.
America was created by immigrants from all over the
world, from all races and religions. It is a country of freedom and acceptance that we often take for granted
when we see so much violence and hate against differences. Every day we read, see or listen to stories about
discrimination and news of events that go completely
against the values and origins of this great country.
My native nation of France was attacked last Friday,
everyone was shocked by the terrorist massacre that
happened in Paris. I cannot describe how sad I feel
when I learned that three people I have known have
passed away that day. The world is at war because of a
few individuals that cannot accept others for who they
are and what they believe in. It’s something that should
immediately stop, we all agree that this behavior is unacceptable.
This is why I invite you all to take a moment and think
about how you can start bringing positive energy into
this world. Helping people is probably the easiest way
to start. Thanksgiving is an opportunity to lend a helping hand, to please stop being selfish and to offer our
services to someone in need. Whoever they are, whatever religion they believe in, there is always a way to
give.
In Los Angeles, we have the country’s highest homeless
population, and we can do something to stop it. Please
join us for the 9th annual home walk on Saturday, November 21st, 2015. Please volunteer whenever you can
at a shelter or simply donate to help people in need.
I am thankful for the opportunity that this publication and its contributors have given me to help create
awareness every month by offering a voice to charitable
organizations. Every simple step counts. Thank you!
