Drum: EVENTS
What’s Going On...
Get on the carnival bus at
Europe’s largest street festival.
After over 40 years, costumes, music, food and
dance at the Notting Hill Carnival still thrill, shock,
stun, enrapture and exorcise. The costumes’ sheer
scale and engineering skill is a testimony in itself,
and a tribute, to generations of carnival crafts.
Join the team at DRUM magazine and a host of
celebrities for two days of revelry on a traditional
red, open-top, London double-decker bus for the
2005 Notting Hill Carnival.

The Dance Consortium presents
a welcome return of Alvin Ailey
American Dance Theatre London
and UK tour
Bloomberg is the sponsor of Alvin Ailey American
Dance Theatre’s performances at Sadler’s Wells in
London. Following 2002’s sell-out London visit, The
Dance Consortium presents the company on its first
ever UK tour.
Renowned for its soul-stirring, high-energy
performances, the company is widely regarded as one
of America’s greatest dance companies. Taking
popular music, gospel and jazz and fusing modern,
ballet and jazz dance, the company of 30 dancers
radiates with passionate and explosive energy.
Four lucky new subscribers will join our carnival
bus winding its way through the streets of North
Kensington while you dance for up to 12 hours
along a route of over three miles, stopping only
to pose for a photograph or to eat a Roti.
What better way to spend August Bank Holiday
than relaxing with friends, and over 50 Mas Bands,
15 Steel bands, 45 Sound Systems, several Calypsonians, hundreds of food outlets and over two
million spectators.
Four lucky winners will each receive an exclusive
invitation for the DRUM carnival bus on Monday
29th August. Subscribe to DRUM magazine now
to be in for a chance to join in the fun this August
Bank Holiday!
The Carnival Bus and invitations are provided by
Drum Media in association with The Paddington
Arts Elimu Carnival Band.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre is the last of
four international companies presented by The Dance
Consortium in 2005, thanks to funding by Arts
Council England. The other tours were Grupo Corpo,
Compagnie Kafig, and Nederlands Dans Theater 2.
