If you’ve been keeping track, we’ve been matching up cars to run against
each other at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway to be featured in our Driver Battles
video series. On the morning of the last Driver Battles filming, a collection of
cars lined up at the entrance ready to set personal-best times—but these
weren’t the contestants. They were 15-plus enthusiasts who had all driven to
the center of the California desert to take part in the first-ever Driving Line open
track day. As the green flag dropped, they drove off together, kicking up the
dust that had settled onto the track overnight.
