To understand the role experiential learning has in the learning to drive process.

To be able to discuss the positives and negatives associated with experiential learning.

To be able to critically analyse a traffic scene.

To identify a number of ‘trigger’ events that could be used to trigger a self-assessment process.

Summary

Learning from experience can be a double edged sword and the quality of the learning that takes place is strongly linked to the ability of the driver to actively engage in the process. The ability to self-evaluate is therefore a critical skill and the aim of this scenario is to assist the driver to develop this skill through achieving the following learning outcomes;

The development of a self-reflection marking system.

The identification of trigger events.
