So the National Associations Steering Group have had some members withdraw. (Full statement/press releases included)
The issue seems to be around the minutes of the most recent meeting. Some believe the minutes should not be published and others want their membership to be fully informed of what's been said and by whom.
Whilst we only published notes from the meeting, we fully support any association that has a constitution, that makes it mandatory on the committee to fully inform the membership.
Ever delegate should not want to hide behind the Chatham House Rule where discussion and decisions are taken in secret that affect the profession as a whole. This is how the whole debacle surrounding qualified instructors having to sit the HPT after being approved for many years came from.
This has been said before, but it is important how you are represented. Some association, although non profit making have commercial interests. These interests seem to take precedence over members' interests. Associations that are privately owned are required to make a profit; where does the profit come from? You its members.
