Figures for July and September 2013.

Practical Car Tests 353,420 a drop of 4% on the same quarter of 2012

Practical Car Test Pass rate 48% same as 2012

Theory Tests (Cars) 411,473 an increase of 25% from same quarter of 2012

Theory Test (Cars) pass rate 53%, this is 9% lower than 2012.

Lower theory test pass rate will be down to the questions and answers no longer being published, plus the additional new questions that will of course be unpublished. So the increase in the number of theory tests is purely down to retesting and not a surge in people learning to drive.

Motorcycle practical and theory are about 25% lower than the same quarter 2012.
