Road Traffic Act 1988 section 123
The UK has some of the safest roads in the world, why would we want to copy schemes and systems from Counties and States from around the world that have a poorer road safety record than ourselves. Surely these are not role models for the UK.

Much talk currently on is imposing further restriction on newly qualified drivers and making changes to the way learners are taught. Maybe the driving test itself is the problem. Is the test ‘fit for purpose’ Some say it’s one of the hardest to pass in the world. I can’t comment on this as I have only taken tests in two countries.
I find it hard to justify that those who already have a driving licence want to maker it harder for those who want to acquire one.
This Bill and any legislation placing restrictions on newly qualified drivers has the potential to alienate many first time voters. Although this should not prevent legislation to prevent needless deaths due to traffic incidents, it could come at great cost to the government that introduces it.
