Drivin' & Dreaming Washington | Page 2

“ That ’ s a lot of states you ’ ve got there ” says a man at the gas station , looking at the sticker map on the RV . “ Are you planning on going to Washington ?” “ Yes we are , in a few months or so ” Jonas says . “ Then you have to check out the rain forest up there ” the man says . “ Rain forest ?” says Jonas , “ In Washington ?”.
Finally we were there . At the West Coast of America . We had crossed the entire country and saw the ocean again for the first time in many months . The evergreen state was truly evergreen . It actually has a real rain forest , The Olympic National Forest , and we went there to record one of the videos for the acoustic video album “ There ’ s a Man In a Smiling Bag ”. But more exciting for me was to go to “ The Great Northern ”. Anyone who knows their “ Twin Peaks ” ( the 1990 ’ s TV show by David Lynch ) knows The Great Northern , the big old hotel at the edge of the Snoqualmie Falls . The house is actually a restaurant and spa and is called Salish Lodge , and even though the beautiful big house was central in the TV show , the scenes inside was shot at different location . Since my album “ The Owls Are Not What They Seem ” was named after the show it was great to see it in real life .
