Wretched Tree Jesse Maggard Grade 11 What happened to you, you wretched tree? You used to be beautiful. Now look at thee! You brought this upon yourself. If you had reasons, please, do tell. I have only one thing to say, To you who betrays. You cut off your flowers, You wretched tower! You’ ve borne much fruit. Of others I cannot say. But this one, in your shadow does lay. This one is sick and rotten. Or have you forgotten! About all the flowers and fruit, That you left destitute. This fruit was smashed by its fall. It was supposed to be enjoyed by all, But here it lays, in a cloud of stink, Left alone to wither and shrink. I suppose you never would have thought,
