Where are you Now? Paige Knapek Grade 8
To the friends I left behind, My heart still mourns for you. Not once have you left my mind.
You were the ones who showed me how. It ' s been three years since I ' ve seen you. Where are you now?
I knew you wanted me to stay. I had no other choice, But to go and fly away.
I figured you would have a cow; I ' ve wondered how you ' ve been. Where are you now?
You kept a piece of my heart, That will forever stay with you. We ' ll never be apart.
Me leaving, you wouldn ' t allow, But this is not goodbye. Where are you now? I ' ll see you again, that ' s my vow.
Racehorse Abby Williams Grade 7
Leaning against the gate, impatient. Pawing at the ground, prancing. Nostrils flared, eyes wide, Waiting, waiting, waiting, Clamping down on the bit...
The gun goes off, the gate disappears. Surging forward with the rest, Flanks heaving, legs a blur. Hooves pounding, drenched, sweat rolling down. Eyes bright and alive... Suddenly there is no jockey, No reins, no fences...
But only for a moment. Galloping to the finish, Crossing, first place. Crowd roaring, some jeering. A blue ribbon, flowers. Prancing, dancing, pawing, Ready for the next race.
