JULIA KIEFER Clémence Muller Stuttgart (Germany), 15. April 1968. Rouen, France, 7th May 1968 In May 1968, students in France started protesting over university reform, which ended into a nation- wide protest against the government. In Budapest this year, students were standing with the Central Eu- ropean University (CEU) for academic freedom so that they wouldn’t be relocated to Vienna and to end all censorship in higher education and research. Fifty years later, students still have a voice and are back on the streets; so why not listen? Germany, 2018. In 1968 the german »Bild-Zeitung» was under criticism of the protesting left oriented students, because its populistic presentation of news led to rage and phys- ical violence against the movement. Nowadays the term »Lügenpresse« ( lying press ) has been estab- lished and is used by the right xenophobic populists to create mistrust towards the political center ground.
