Layer 1 – go shallow
Each group (5–6 groups, 5–6 students each) develops
an ad hoc group intervention in public space which
addresses the topic of "68". Using any medium or
form(at) (reenactment, continuation, spoofing,
collage, interpretation, satire…) and based on
processing/discussing (as a group) the individual
photos of the group members; these photos
referenced different aspects of the ‘60s including
political events, memories, etc.
Layer 2 – go deep
Students then develop a group project/concept/
artwork/prototype/idea… that is based on individual
research (sources: city drifting/flâneurie/
exploration, lecture/s, tours, photos, online
resources, discussions, the Reader, ad hoc interviews,
anything) and connected to the overall topic of the
seminar. The output is to be a coherent descriptive
text and a set of still visuals (visual material) that
will presented and organised into a publication. Links
to video and sound projects can also be included. The
key task is to focus on negotiation of the meanings
and inter-relationships among the individual (artistic
research) contributions within the group (collective).
