The ‘ spaces ’ or ‘ locations ’ that a bridge creates depends on where the bridge is built and therefore what it connects ( ibid ). This connection is made more significant in a city like Budapest which was once made up of two separate entities , Buda and Pest . The main purpose of the creation of the bridges was mainly to fuse these two former cities , along with the people , buildings and spaces that occupied them .
Though to explore this concept to examine whether it is still relevant today , we underwent an in-depth physical and emotional exploration of each bridge , strolling from one side to the other whilst picking up interesting and peculiar objects and recording sound bites and videos . In light of the results we found , we began to realise a concept for a kind of journal , one that explores the essence and purpose of each bridge through our eyes .
