When TV news programmes such as BBC News aired footage of shoppers falling over one another to get through the door of Asda some of us may initially laugh but a darker thought tends to loom, is this really a piece of footage showing human behaviour, and human behaviour which people consider to be acceptable?
It seems that in our money-driven society and minds, Christmas tends to be about more than just the concept of giving, and instead the idea of buying for one’s self is a greater pleasure. I have to admit that seeing something you've been after for a while being reduced to half its original price is a great thing for our bank accounts, so long as we don't inhabit some animalistic-like characteristics along the way.
After all, Christmas is a jolly time of year, not the time of year we want to see numerous Police cars and Ambulances arriving at shops to collect damaged goods, and that goes for both human bodies and the fought over products! ▪
