About DreamSF Fellowship

6
The DreamSF Fellowship ’ s mission is to provide professional and personal development for immigrant students and aspiring professionals who seek to gain real-world experience with social justice change-makers . In a society and economy where many are left out of opportunities for development due to immigration status , DreamSF stands out as an equitable model for inclusive economic justice .
History
In 2014 , the DreamSF Fellowship was conceived and piloted through a partnership between the San Francisco Department of Children Youth & Their Families (" DCYF ") and the San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement & Immigrant Affairs (" OCEIA "). The program grew out of existing efforts to provide immigration legal services for individuals eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (" DACA "), and was developed in response to the growing need to address the limited professional development opportunities available to undocumented immigrants and students . The first cohort placed 12 individuals with several immigrant-serving community organizations in San Francisco in 2014 , marking the birth of the DreamSF Fellowship .
