200 MPH TODD

Todd Tutterow extends an oily-palm wave on the return road after a qualifying blast down North Carolina ’ s Farmington Dragway . By the time this photo was snapped , “ King Tut ” had already won 14 championships in various leagues around the Southeast , seven of them within the ranks of the Don Plemmons-founded Quick-8 Racers Association . While experiencing success in practically every car he ’ s ever raced , this Larry Jeffers-built 2005 Corvette gave him the nickname “ 200 MPH Todd ” when at Houston Raceway Park during a ADRL event 13 years ago , he clicked off seven 200-mph runs in a row , a feat never before done in eighth-mile doorslammer racing . Closer to home , it should come as no surprise that Tutterow gave his legions of fans at Farmington their first 200-mph doorslammer run in track history while driving this same national event-winning race car .
