SICK WEEK 2022

Raceway – and South Georgia Motorsports Park . With an itinerary that included scenic routes and checkpoints at local landmarks , it was billed as “ the hardest vacation you ’ ll ever take .” ¶ Sick Week lived up to its slogan , as drivers , co-drivers , and their entourages traveled from track to track , starting at Bradenton and heading north to Orlando ( which was rained out ), Gainesville , and South Georgia , before returning to Bradenton via I-75 South with a stop at Don Garlits ’ Museum of Drag Racing for a party and history lesson along the way . Mechanical issues plagued competitors on the track and on the road . Some racers were forced to bow out of competition , while others were able to forge ahead and finish the week , an accomplishment of its own . ¶ The drag-and-drive format and the incredible people who participate in these events led to a bevy of fascinating storylines and memorable moments throughout the week . While those stories could fill an entire magazine ( Sick the Mag already has that covered ), we ’ ve selected a handful of the captivating stories , moments , cars , and people to feature on the following pages .
