DON CARLTON MEMORIAL RACE
Stock group , Adams emerged as the winner and set a Southeast Nostalgia Pro Stock record of 4.49 seconds at 151.46 mph . Runner-up in this class was Mark Johnson of Ozark , Alabama , in his original Bob Glidden Motorcraft Ford Thunderbird .
The race was kicked off with a small parade that paid tribute to Carlton and the former racers we lost this past year : SNPS racers Mike Whitaker and Tony Scaramuzza , as well as former Pro Stock drivers Billy Ewing and Lou Tabilio .
The Nostalgia Pro Stock field also included Tracy Kilby ’ s tribute to Terry Adams ’ ’ 85 Trans Am , Kurt Huntington ’ s original Jim Kinnett ‘ 79 Plymouth Volare , Danny Sisk ’ s tribute to “ Dyno ” Don Nicholson ’ s ’ 80 Ford Fairmont , Ron Swann ’ s
tribute to Darrell Alderman ’ s ’ 89 Dodge Daytona , Keith Bronson ’ s original Robert Patrick ’ 89 Ford Probe , Eddie Hall ’ s tribute to Eddie Ratliff ’ s ‘ 72 Dodge Demon , Ed Eichelberger ’ s tribute to Bill “ Grumpy ” Jenkins ’ ’ 67 Chevrolet Camaro , Larry Snead and John Yates ’ tribute to Reid Whisnant ’ s ’ 87 Chevrolet Camaro , Ron Teague ’ s ’ 75 Plymouth Duster tribute , Mike Whitaker ’ s tribute to the “ Billy The Kid ” Plymouth Duster , and Michael Sipes ’ Dodge Colt tribute .
The bracket race of the event , titled the Hudson / Shuffletown Reunion race , honors two nearby tracks that are permanently closed and invites all who raced there to come out and race or just enjoy the nostalgia of a time gone by . There were over 100 cars participating in the reunion race .
