citement to be racing . People are smiling and thanking you , and that response is amazing . The racing , the crowd , it ’ s just a great environment .”
Additions for the 2021 race included increased signage for the major sponsors and that was apparent all weekend at Orlando Speed World Dragway . CTECH again supplied the trophy carts for the winners in Pro Stock and Pro Mod , and that unique touch was again a massive hit .
The company also created a special trophy they created in-house , which also drew a great response . Plus , CTECH owner Jim Greenheck had a chance to get in on the action with the addition of Competition Eliminator to this year ’ s racing , providing another memorable highlight for the company .
“ Having Comp Eliminator there and Jim being able to race at his race , that was great ,” Martin says . “ Being able to see the CTECH car run down the strip was pretty cool .”
It was also a rewarding event for JEGS , which returned as a major sponsor for the 2021 race . The inaugural event would have been hard to top with Jeg Coughlin Jr . winning the $ 75,000 prize in Pro Stock , but the company was quick to give this year ’ s race two thumbs up .
“ It was a great follow-up year for the World Doorslammer Nationals , [ and ] having successful back-to-back events in 2020 and 2021 shows the group took what they learned the first time and made some tweaks for year two ,” says Scott Woodruff , Director of Media and Motorsports at JEGS . “ There was a lot of anticipation for the event coming into this year after having such a
strong out-of-the-box event in 2020 . Once again , the fun on and off the track didn ’ t disappoint . The event has a high-energy feel to it .
“ That feeling of respect really comes from the racing community ,” Woodruff adds . “ Everyone has a great mindset and attitude from when the rigs get parked to when the rigs pull out . That ’ s a successful event , and at the end of the day , that ’ s where we want people to see and experience JEGS when they are having fun doing what they enjoy .”
After making tweaks to the inaugural event , those minor changes help the race run even bet- ter . Martin noted the strong relationship between the company and race officials , which will continue to make a big difference as all parties look to make the racer even bigger in 2022 .
“ We had a little more experience doing this after the first race and everything went smoother every step of the way ,” Martin says . “ It was a phenomenal event and the cool thing is everyone is continually thinking about how to make it even better .
“ These relationships are growing ,” Martin continues , “ and I think this event going to get even bigger and better .” DI
