Ten highlights from Duck X Productions ’ season opener By Nate Van Wagnen

Promoter Donald Long and his Duck X Productions team kicked off his 12th season of promoting , organizing and hosting drag radial racing ’ s most celebrated events with Diamond Pistons Lights Out 12 , February 24-28 at South Georgia Motorsports Park near Valdosta , Georgia . Dubbed “ Playin ’ with Power ,” the event featured a star-studded lineup of drag radial classes like Radial vs . the World , Pro 275 , X275 and Limited Drag Radial .

With cool conditions and a seemingly endless number of opportunities to make passes down the infamous South Georgia eighth-mile strip , the event played host to world records , personal bests and unpredictable racing .

While it ’ s nearly impossible to collect all of the memorable performance from Lights Out 12 in just a couple pages , here are Drag IllustrateD ’ s top 10 moments from the race .
1 . Jason Lee Dominates RvW � After running a 3.507 in testing , Jason Lee heated up the race to the 3.40s in Radial vs . the World . Shakedown Nationals founder David Hance added fuel to the fire when he promised a $ 3,499 bonus to the first RvW driver to dip into the 3.40s during qualifying or eliminations .
Lee , driving Eric Gustafson ’ s Coast Packing ’ 69 Camaro , came closest with his 3.502 at 211.46 in the opening qualifying session .
Lee continued chasing the mark through four more qualifying sessions and five rounds of elimination . Along with PTP Racing partner Patrick Barnhill , Lee tuned and drove the ProChargerboosted Camaro to a string of 3.50-second passes in eliminations aside from a 3.60 in the semifinals . The Ohioan stepped back up to a 3.56 to defeat Marcus Birt and his 3.58 in the $ 20,000 final round .
