OK , so here we are
sitting out most of the season because of COVID . The big races have become small and prize money is dwindling , and when we do finally get to go to a race the fan count is nearly nothing . Our biggest racing organizations have taken a huge hit , while small racetracks struggle to stay alive .
Away from the racetracks , businesses have closed and jobs have gone . The entire country was brought to a standstill . But amazingly , places like Walmart stayed open . Government officials kept their jobs , yet did not even go to work , and all the while the people in those prominent places kept telling us we are in this together . Really ? I don ’ t think so .
We had to social distance , but really isn ’ t the correct term “ physical distance ”? Yet people not only stayed away from each other , they treated each other like they had the plague . So face masks became the “ new normal .” Well , there is nothing normal about covering your face unless you are hiding from someone or robbing a store . So with face masks you can come close to one another , yet they still say to stay six feet apart .
Athletes are quarantined for weeks and locked together in their hotel rooms , yet they order takeout that has been prepared by someone outside their quarantine . They say you could die , yet the biggest death toll has been in relationships with others because of fear . The media has been proven to lie again and again , yet people still believe them . The CDC came out with new findings that showed the death rate from COVID to be astonishingly lower than reported , yet people are still scared to death .
Do you see a common theme here ? When you can scare the hell out of people you can control them , not just a little but completely . Masks , face shields and gloves should be worn when emptying your crapper tanks on your motorhome , not driving alone in your car .
In recent days , the racetracks have become a place where it seems comfortable and enjoyable , no masks , just fun and enjoyment . You see , the new normal is complete horse crap brainwash talk that will get you thinking the wrong things . The normal should be enjoying the gifts we have been given as well as our freedom as Americans . Many are giving up these rights for the fear of offending others .
I am not saying to be careless , but to be who we were created to be : Human beings that can interact with each other and actually see one another ’ s beautiful smiles without the hindrance of a face mask . We were made for fellowship , not isolation . Fellowship comes natural at the races and that is why it feels so much more comfortable .
Here is my advice . Take each day and enjoy it to the fullest . Love , laugh , smile without masks , go racing and just enjoy the people around you . You see , it ’ s not a pandemic that will kill you , it ’ s your actions . Who would have thought going to the grocery store would be a life risk ? Well , breaking news : it ’ s not ! It ’ s your mind , the mind that is trying to be manipulated that says , “ Be afraid .” You have heard the term , “ There is nothing to fear but fear itself .” How true this is .
Keep good hygiene , wash your hands regularly and be respectful of others . That ’ s really all you can do , and if that ’ s not good enough for someone , then tough crap . I for one am tired of living a life of fear . It has no place in my or your life . Giving it a place in your mind can literally kill you . As always , the choice is yours to make .
