Jim Chase in his Wicked Quick ‘57 Chevy nostalgia alcohol Funny Car sits under a beautiful Texas
evening sky as he waits to stage up in the opening round of eliminations at promoter Chris Graves’
Funny Car Chaos championship race. Chase qualified No. 9 out of an incredible 29 floppers on the
property with a 3.875 at 186.80 mph. He was inserted into the No. 1 spot as an alternate for Allan
Middendorf, who walked away from a high-speed trip to the sand trap in qualifying. Chase left
first on Ronnie Young in the Blue Max entry, but slowed to Young’s winning 3.896.
