MAXIMUM EFFORT Flames pop out of Rick Hord’s twin-turbocharged “Maximum Effort IV” ‘16 Corvette just seconds before the Belle Isle, Florida, driver would bump in and stage for his second-round match with New Mexico’s Clint Satterfield. True to the name on the side of his car, Hord gave it his all, recording a 5.925 at 233.20 to move on and meet eventual race winner Scott Oksas in the semifinals. There, Hord stepped up on the starting line, cutting a .031 light to Oksas’ close .034 bulb, before getting loose and crossing the centerline to close out his second consecutive WSOPM appearance.
