SEND IT Jackie Cannon gives the injector blades one last spray of deicer before sending boyfriend Kyle Dvorak down the Summit Motorsports Park quarter mile for a first-round match against No. 2 qualifier Don Walsh. While Walsh timed out, Dvorak wheeled his supercharged ‘63 split-window Corvette to his first-ever 5-second pass, a 5.994 at 235.35 mph, at the Shakedown at the Summit. Quick enough to count towards Dvorak’s NHRA Pro Mod licensing efforts, the pass was an ultra-rewarding moment for Dvorak, Cannon and Dvorak’s parents, Joe and Annette, as the group nearly packed up and went home after a troublesome pre-race test session. Dvorak credits Pro Mod tuner Lee White and his over-the-phone guidance for playing a large part in the personal best.
