MECHANICAL VENTILATION TESTING AND LOW LEAKAGE
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION
One point of credit is available for having a certified HERS Rater test the mechanical ventilation system( each supply and exhaust fan used for ventilation) and then match the results to ASHRAE 62.2-2010.
Additionally, the system must be pressurized to verify that the duct system does not leak more than 6 %.

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION

DRAFT

One point is available for performing a combustion safety test( if needed) to ensure carbon monoxide flue gases are not backdrafting into the home from an open combustion fireplace, water heater, or furnace.
To receive credit, all action items for BPI Technical Standards must be completed, and the project must pass draft and spillage tests. Combustion safety must be completed for appliances in the home( s), including cook tops and ovens. Carbon monoxide levels should also be tested at burners.
Based on the results of the test, proceed with appropriate actions according to the carbon monoxide limits identified in the Combustion Safety Action Level table. For all combustion appliances, measure the carbon monoxide at steady-state operating conditions.
