A. SITE
A1. JOB SITE CONSTRUCTION WASTE DIVERSION
CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Up to six points of credit are available for developing and implementing a plan for waste diversion by identifying the types of debris that will be generated on site and the location of disposal or reuse of each material. Use the Pre-Construction Debris Recovery Plan template (which is available through the Rater Resources website) or an equivalent document. Note: In calculations for compliance, construction and demolition waste includes green waste and existing structures. A1.1. Divert all Cardboard, Concrete, Asphalt, and Metal (Required)
This measure is required for all projects undergoing work. Projects that are not undergoing work will indicate “Not Applicable” on the checklist. For a current remodel or addition project, 100% of the cardboard, concrete, asphalt, and metal waste generated on site must be recycled (including green waste). A home not currently undertaking a project is exempt from this measure. There is an option in the dropdown menu for this measure in the Data Collection Form to indicate whether or not this measure is applicable to the rating. Provide a Pre-Construction Debr is Recovery Plan of the methods of recycling materials on site and facilities to be used, and maintain records of recycled materials for verification. Note that all diversion rates must be based on weight, not volume. A1.2. Source Separate and Recycle or Salvage Materials (Up to 4 Points)
The goals of construction debris recycling is to change behavior and promote best practices on the job site (including on-site source separation). Therefore, actual diversion rates are less important than simply getting crews to segregate materials and send them for recycling, as opposed to throwing everything into one big and risking contamination/landfilling. Salvage and reuse promote the materials hierarchy of highest and best use of those materials coming off the job site. Credit is available for diverting a percentage of the remaining waste, as follows: ? ? Source separate and recycle or salvage three or more materials or material categories—1 Point Source separate and recycle or salvage four or more materials or material categories—2 Points 50% Waste Diversion (2 Point)
A1.3.
All projects must meet the CALGreen mandatory measure for 50% diversion of C&D debris. In addition to the CALGreen requirements, all GreenPoint Rated projects must comply with the following: ? 100% of concrete and asphalt must be diverted from landfills.
