G Plumbing scale of Good, Fair, or Poor. For measures that pose a health and safety hazard, immediate correction is required and the contractor will indicate this by checking the Repair box on the Checklist; this is a judgment call on the part of the contractor completing the inspection. For measures that do not pose a safety hazard or prevent the equipment from operating, but that negatively affect the efficiency of the system, the contractor can check the Upgrade box on the form and provide a recommendation if appropriate. Each CDHW system must comply with the water heater or boiler manufacturer’s installation requirements. The inspection measures and conditions as outlined in the CDHW Checklist must cover all of the following items (note that the checklist includes more detail than what is listed below): ? Cabinets – – – ? Electrical – – – – – – ? Inspect electrical disconnect box. Ensure proper equipment grounding. Measure and record line voltage. Inspect and test contactors and relays (gas boiler only). Inspect electrical connections and wire. Measure and record amperage draw to motor/nameplate data (FLA) as available (gas boiler only). Inspect cabinet, cabinet fasteners, and cabinet panels. Inspect the clearance (i.e., combustion and service) around cabinet. Check controls, safety switches (e.g., low water, hi-limit, etc.), valves, and burners. Induced Draft Blower Assembly – – Determine and record airflow across heat exchangers. Test inducer fan motor and blower assembly. ? Condensate Removal – Inspect condensate drain piping and traps for proper operation (gas boiler only). ? Gas Combustion – – – – – – – – – – – Inspect burner and flue for signs of water, corrosion, or blockage. Inspect heat exchanger for signs of corrosion, fouling, structural problems (e.g., cracks, perforations, and bulges), and erratic flame operation during blower operation. Visually inspect burners for signs of contamination. Inspect the burner blower wheel (gas boiler only). Inspect hot surface igniter for cracks (i.e., look for white spots when energized, or check cold with ohmmeter and proper supply voltage). Measure and record inlet gas pressure at inlet pressure tap. Measure, record, and adjust manifold pressure as necessary. Test main burner ignition. Test burners. Test inducer fan motor and blowers assembly. Ensure combustion air volume is correct.
