CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Two points of credit is available for the active, regular use of a backyard compost bin for food wastes and landscape trimmings. Utilizing the green bin provided by the local (municipal) waste authority for weekly pickup of yard and kitchen scraps does not meet this requirement. Worm composting bins may also help in meeting the requirements of this measure, but do not replace the need for a yard trimmings compost bin, unless there is no yard landscaping. INTENT To reduce the burden on landfills and utilize available resources to promote healthier plants and trees. To reduce transportation of materials that can be composted on site.
