MINIMAL TURF IN LANDSCAPE

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Up to four points are available as follows: C4.1. No Turf on Slopes Exceeding 10% and No Overhead Sprinklers Installed in Areas Less Than Eight Feet Wide (2 Points) Landscaping with no turf will be granted full credit for this measure. This measure is a prerequisite for measure C4.2. C4.2. Turf on a Small Percentage of Landscaped Area (Up to 2 Points)

Credit is available for devoting less than a percentage of the landscaped area to turf, as follows: ? ? Less that 25% of landscaped area—1 points Less than 10% of landscaped area—2 points

The percentage of the landscape area is based on the landscape area that the builder is completing. Landscaping with no turf will be granted full credit for this measure. VERIFICATION Field Verification: The Rater will conduct field compliance verification and take representative photos of turf areas and landscape areas. Documentation: The Rater may need to complete a plan review to confirm the percentage of turf area within the landscape area, if the percentage is not easily verifiable in the field. INTENT To reduce water, fertilizer, and pesticide use. To reduce or eliminate over-watering onto hardscape areas.

Note: Landscape with plantings that require no permanent irrigation (drip-only operated only during the first two years of the establishment period) also receives full credit

CRITERIA FOR QUALIFICATION Up to five points of credit are available, as follows: C5.1. System Uses Only Low-Flow Drip, Bubblers, or Low-Flow Sprinklers (2 Points)

Credit is available for a project landscape design that provides for efficient irrigations and accounts for irrigation head performance specifications. All irrigation systems must be designed to prevent runoff, overspray, low-head drainage, and other similar conditions that cause water to flow onto non-irrigated areas, walks, roadways, or structures.
