1. What made you apply for your position at Dr.Martens? When I applied for the position (a sales advisor at first) I had just finished University, so I was in desperate need of a full-time job. I was searching for work for a while; I really wanted to work for a company I actually took a liking to. I’ve been a fan of Dr.Martens from a young age; my mum was a number 1 fan back in the 70’s, so when I was little they were all I wore! I saw the position advertised, and applied for it straight away! Now I’ve combined having a job & having one at a place/brand I love - it’s perfect! 2. What do you like best about Dr.Martens? This may sound a little cliche, but I genuinely like everything about them! I enjoy that there are so many different styles and colours, all for different kinds of occasions; they’re comfortable, stylish and easily recognizable! 3. Why is it that Dr Martens have enabled themselves to sustain as a brand? Back when Dr.Martens were first released in the 1960’s, they were soon to become fashion staple pieces for several subcultures, such as the Punks and the Skinheads. Trends were created with the use of Dr.Martens from these subcultures that were formed, and ever since then, the trend just hasn’t died down! The subcultures were such a huge part of society, Dr.Martens were one of their main fashion accessories, they became extremely popular with people involved within these subcultures, and with people outside of them! People are still fascinated with the subcultures today, and as Dr.Martens relate to them, the brand has just managed to sustain! 4. If you could describe Dr.Martens in four words, what would they be? Comfortable, Practical, Stylish and Recognizable 5. Do you think Dr.Martens having their own concession within TOPSHOP Oxford Street works well? Yes, definitely! TOPSHOP are forever gaining new customers, and as Dr.Martens aim at a wide audience, it works really well! TOPSHOP have their own unique style, which brings out the best in the brand! Obviously, with Dr.Martens having their own store, the majority of our customers tend to shop in those, but having a concession in TOPSHOP really helps to bring the company new customers!
