HOW ABOUT DIET AND SNACKS?
A balanced diet is important for
children’s teeth development and
overall health and growth. We
generally
recommend
serving
minimum amounts of starch and
added sugar. Desserts are better
served with meals instead of a sepa-
rate snack. The more time sugar has
around teeth, the more time it has to
produce cavities.
Stay away from sticky sweets
(toffee, jelly beans, dried fruit) as
much as possible.
WHAT’S NITROUS OXIDE
(LAUGHING GAS)?
It is a mixture of nitrous oxide and
oxygen gas. It is delivered to your
child lungs through a fitted mask on
their nose. Some children report feel-
ing as if they were floating or flying.
It may induce feelings of euphoria
and hence the ‘’laughing’’ feeling. It
is generally very safe with no side
effects. The dentist will make sure it
is completely cleared from your
child’s system before the end of
their visit. We recommend not
having a meal within 2 hours of the
appointment as vomiting may occur
with a full stomach.
