Des Plaines School of Dance
Our Mission
To provide our students with the finest
dance instruction through inspiration,
artistry, technique, and performance.
Welcome to the Des Plaines Park District
School of Dance.
For more than 45 years, we have offered
studio-quality instruction taught by
professionally trained, working dancers
and choreographers. Our personable,
energetic staff of instructors is committed
to the growth and development, personally
and artistically, of every student. While
we focus on technique, our dancers learn
discipline, proper posture, inner strength,
self-confidence, teamwork, self-respect,
and respect for others. Our teachers inspire
their students to achieve their personal
dance goals and empower them with the
skills necessary to overcome challenges
and persevere in the studio and in their
lives. All of our dancer instructors are
sensitive to the individual needs of each
of their student’s ability to learn. They use
positive reinforcement, personal attention,
and on-the-floor demonstration to insure
everyone reaches their full potential. Come
see the smiling faces in our studios and see
why The Des Plaines School of Dance is the
place to dance in Des Plaines.

The Des Plaines School of Dance consists
of 3 different areas:
• Performance (9-month program,
culminating in our June dance recital):
Currently in progress
• Tots in Motion (pre-dance classes, with
minimal commitment)
• Recreational (Non-Recital, Adult Dance,
Specialty Classes)
TOTS IN MOTION: PRE-DANCE PROGRAM
These beginner level classes are for
children ages 18 months through 5 years.
This non-recital program is a great way
to introduce your child to the wonderful
world of dance. Each class is designed
to teach the fundamentals of dance,
including rhythm, coordination, flexibility,
strength, and creative movement. Dancers
learn basic dance terminology, as well as
simple combinations of movements to fun
songs. During the session, students have
an opportunity to express themselves,
meet new friends, and become more
self-confident. Our goal is to encourage
each student to put their best foot forward
and ensure they have a blast while they
do. Students are expected to follow the
Performance Program dress code for PreDance. Instructors’ bios, class descriptions,
and dress code can be found on our
website: www.DPParks.org. ns
