Join us in nature as we use simple natural
materials to build something truly amazing.
There is no age limit to the fun of building
forts and working with others to create a
special place all their own. This program will
allow children to forge lasting memories,
connect with nature, and be part of an awe
inspiring collaborative project.

8th Annual Family Campout
Ages 4+
Pack up the kids, your tent and sleeping
bags for a family overnight at our “close-to-
home” campsites at Cumberland Terrace.
Enjoy games and outdoor activities, and
share an experience that creates lasting
memories at this very popular annual
event. You bring your own camping gear,
we provide snacks, breakfast, and plenty
of fun! A minimum of one adult per four
children must be registered. Restrooms
are accessible all night. A letter with event
details will be mailed prior to the campout.

It’s time to set sail across the mighty Iroquois
Pool in our annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.
Step 1 : Assemble your crew, some
cardboard, duct tape, and engineering
ingenuity.
Step 2 : Create a sea worthy vessel.
Step 3 : Bring your boat and crew to Iroquois
pool and race against other teams in this

Nerf Dart Tournament
Ages 8–13 years
It’s tag or be tagged as teams combine
the right mix of speed, agility, strategy, and
teamwork to defeat their opponents in the
Nerf Tournament Arena. Lunch is included. cy
• Matches are played by teams of 4 players
in Capture the Flag format. All matches are
refereed.
• Bring your own Nerf guns, darts, and
mandatory protective eyewear.
• Equipment will be inspected before play
begins. Only unmodified Nerf dart guns and
darts may be used.
• NOTE: Rival Nerf Guns are NOT ALLOWED.
• Each player must fill out a registration
form. You may register as a single player or
in a team of four. TEAMS: Please indicate
your teammates on your registration form.

Family Glow Walk
Let’s get moving Des Plaines!
Kids, parents, grandparents, aunts and
uncles will all enjoy a fun and informal
3-mile walk—or run if you like—around
Lake Park in this annual “glowing” event.
The course is set up in a 1-mile loop, so
you can opt to walk/run 1 mile, 2 miles, or
the full 3 miles. Participants will acquire
some glow-in-the-dark items along the way.
Fun activities are placed along the course
for families to enjoy, and prizes are awarded
to the best dressed. No registration needed.
