Fun for Kids & Teens LEGO® Engineering for Little Angels Ages 5–7 Children just love to ‘build and break’, and that is how they build-on the storehouse of their creative energy. Working with LEGO™ Education Kits, under professional guidance, they will make working models of simple machines to learn some of the basic concepts of engineering and science. Hands-on activity creates an understanding of ‘how things work’, which develops their aptitude for engineering. mh Min/Max: 4/12 6 weeks Technosaurus, Instructor PLCC, Meeting Room 2 Session 1 Mondays, 5:30–6:15pm 6/2–7/7 R: $89/NR: $111 #155308-1 Session 2 Mondays, 5:30–6:15pm 7/14–8/18 R: $99/NR: $111 #155308-2 28 LEGO®: WeDo™ Robotics Ages: 7–11 The LEGO® Education WeDo™ Robotics Construction Set is a dynamic tool to have fun and learn robotics engineering and programming. Students build LEGO models featuring different ‘sensors and motors’ following interactive instructions on laptop PCs. They connect finished models to the PC using the USP link, and then make programs to have robotic models perform in different ways by snapping together ‘graphic programming blocks’ on PCs. They explore a series of cross-curricular theme-based activities while developing their skills in science, engineering, technology and mathematics. Each team of two will have a laptop PCs and LEGO® robotics construction set to work with. mh Min/Max: 4/12 6 weeks TechnoSaurus, Instructor PLCC, Meeting Room 2 Mondays, 6:30–7:45pm 7/14–8/18 R: $119/NR: $149 #155309-1 Video Gaming: Making Computer Games Ages: 8–12 From the word go participants plunge in to the virtual world, learning the art of making multimedia computer games for everyone to enjoy. Children acquire knowledge and skill to work with graphics software with graphical programming language specifically designed just for kids by MIT Media Lab, to bring their imagination and creativity to life. Participants will learn how to create computer games with assortment of dancing and singing characters, animated motions and actions against custom background settings. They will also try their hand at drawing and painting, and adding sound effects and music. Participants will be able to carry the accomplished computer game projects on their USB flash drive. mh Min/Max: 4/12 6 weeks TechnoSaurus, Instructor PLCC, Meeting Room 2 Mondays, 6:30–7:45pm 6/2–7/7 R: $129/ NR: $161 #155312-1
